How Many Despicable Me Films Are There

So, How Many Despicable Me Films Are We Up To?

Alright, gather 'round, folks. Let's talk about those lovable, yellow, minion-filled movies that have been making us laugh and 'ba-na-na' our way through life. You know the ones - Despicable Me! But wait, have you ever found yourself in the middle of a minion conversation, trying to remember if it's the first, second, or third film you're quoting? Well, you're not alone, and that's why we're here today.

Let's rewind a bit. Remember when we first met Gru, the not-so-despicable villain, and his little yellow helpers? That was back in 2010 with the original Despicable Me. It was like finding a hidden treasure in a world full of animated clichés. We fell in love with Gru's evil plans (that always seemed to go awry), the minions' hilarious antics, and the cutest little girls, Margo, Edith, and Agnes, who stole our hearts.

Then, in 2013, Despicable Me 2 hit the screens. We were back in action with Gru, now a changed man, trying to juggle fatherhood and a new career as an anti-villain. We met the charming (and slightly creepy) El Macho, and the minions got even more adorable with their banana obsession and 'minionese' language. It was like reuniting with old friends, and we couldn't get enough.

But wait, there's more! In 2015, Despicable Me 3 arrived, and with it, a new twist in Gru's story. We met Dru, Gru's long-lost brother, and witnessed the minions' origin story in a delightful animated short. It was like finding out your favorite villain had a twin - suddenly, the world of Despicable Me felt even bigger and more exciting.

So, to answer the question that brought us here today, there are three Despicable Me films. But wait, don't go yet! We can't forget about the spin-offs. In 2015, we got Minions, a hilarious origin story about our favorite yellow creatures. And in 2021, we got another helping of minion madness with The Secret Life of Pets 2, where we got to see what our favorite Despicable Me characters were up to when they weren't on screen.
