Little House On The Prairie Actors Now

Hey there, fellow prairie enthusiasts! You know what's the cat's pajamas? Catching up with the cast of Little House on the Prairie! So, grab your bonnets and let's dive into the wonderful world of what our favorite Ingalls gang is up to now.

Melissa Gilbert - Laura Ingalls Wilder

Our dear Laura, portrayed by the lovely Melissa Gilbert, has come a long way from the little girl with the braids. These days, Melissa is a successful actress, director, and author. She's even written a memoir, Prairie Tale, spilling the beans on her time on the show and her eventful life since. And get this, she's also a politician! That's right, she served as the Screen Actors Guild president for two terms. Talk about a woman of many hats!

Fun fact: Melissa once said she'd love to play Laura again, but this time, she'd like to see the character as a strong, independent woman in her 20s. Now that's a spinoff we'd love to see!

Michael Landon - Charles Ingalls

Oh, Charles Ingalls, the patriarch we all adored. Michael Landon, the man behind the beard, was not only an actor but also a director and producer. He directed over 100 episodes of Little House, including the series finale. Sadly, Michael passed away in 1991, but his legacy lives on through his incredible body of work.

Did you know? Michael's character, Charles, was originally written as a stern, sometimes harsh father. But Michael insisted on playing him as a loving, warm man, and we're so glad he did!

Nellie Oleson, Where Art Thou?

Alison Arngrim, the actress who played the mischievous Nellie Oleson, has had quite the career post-prairie. She's a talented comedian, author, and even a voice actress! She's lent her voice to animated shows like Rugrats and The Simpsons. And get this, she's also a UNICEF ambassador for children's rights. Now that's a plot twist we can get behind!

Alison once said she'd love to play Nellie again, but this time, as a villain in a horror movie. We'd pay good money to see that!

And the Rest...

The rest of the cast has been up to some amazing things too. Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush, the twins who played Carrie Ingalls, have both worked as animal trainers. And little Kenny Wormald, who played Charles Jr., grew up to be a professional dancer and actor. As for Mary, Melissa Sue Anderson, she's been busy raising her family and occasionally acting.

And what about Walnut Grove's favorite schoolteacher, Miss Beadle? You'll never guess what actress Karen Grassle is up to now. She's a passionate environmentalist and even has a line of eco-friendly clothing! Talk about a green thumb!

Reunions and More

Over the years, there have been several Little House reunions, both on and off screen. In 2008, several cast members got together for a special called The 35th Anniversary Reunion: Back to Walnut Grove. And in 2014, Melissa Gilbert and Alison Arngrim hosted a Little House reunion on the Today show. It's always a treat to see this talented bunch together again!

So there you have it, folks! Our favorite Little House stars have certainly come a long way. It's amazing to see how their lives have unfolded, just like the pages of Laura's little book. And who knows? Maybe we'll see some of them back in Walnut Grove again someday. Until then, keep your bonnets on and your eyes on the horizon. The prairie is full of surprises!
