Do The Disney Family Still Own Disney

So, you're wondering if the Disney family still owns Disney, huh? Let's dive into this magical mystery tour!

Once Upon a Time...

Walt Disney, the original dreamer, founded his namesake company in 1923. He was the ultimate storyteller, spinning tales like Snow White and Pinocchio into gold. But what about his family? Do they still rule the kingdom?

Well, Walt didn't have any kids, so let's rewind to his brother, Roy O. Disney. Roy was the money man, keeping the lights on while Walt created. He passed away in 1971, but his legacy lives on.

Roy's Royalty

Roy had a son, Roy E. Disney, who joined the company in 1954. He was a big cheese, serving on the board until 2003. But did you know he was also an avid surfer? Talk about catching a wave of success!

Roy E. had two daughters, Victoria and Abigail. They both worked for the company, but they're not exactly running the show. So, no, they don't own Disney. But they're still part of the magic!

Now, let's talk about the bigwigs. Bob Iger, the current CEO, took the reins in 2005. He's the one who brought us the Marvel and Lucasfilm magic. But is he a Disney by blood? Nope, he's just a regular ol' CEO.

And who's the big boss behind the scenes? That would be Susan Arnold, the board's chair. She's been with the company since 1990 and became chair in 2021. But she's not a Disney by name, just by power!
