Michael Jackson's "This Is It": The Dream Team Behind the Curtain

Ever wondered what it's like to peek behind the scenes of a Michael Jackson concert? It's like walking into your kitchen and finding out your neighbor, a world-class chef, has been secretly planning a surprise dinner party for you. That's the vibe of "Michael Jackson's This Is It", the documentary that gives us a sneak peek into the rehearsals for what would have been MJ's comeback tour.

Meet the Crew: The Ultimate Backup Band

Imagine you're at a friend's house, and they've just introduced you to their new roommate. "Oh, this is John. He's just a regular guy, plays guitar a bit." Then John picks up a guitar and suddenly you're in the middle of a private concert by John Mayer. That's what it was like when Michael Jackson introduced us to his band.

We're talking about some serious heavy hitters here. There's Dennis Dodds, the musical director who's like the captain of the ship, keeping everyone on track. Then there's Michael Bearden, the keyboardist who's so good, he makes you question your entire existence as a musician. And let's not forget Bassist Greg Phillinganes, who's so smooth, he could make a rock song sound like a lullaby.

But the real stars of the show are the dancers. They're like that group of friends you had in high school who were always the life of the party. You know, the ones who could turn a simple trip to the mall into an adventure. That's Kenny Ortega and his crew for you. They're choreographing routines that are so complex, they make you question the laws of physics. And they're doing it all with smiles on their faces, like they're having the time of their lives.

Michael Jackson: The Maestro

Now, let's talk about the man himself. Michael Jackson is the conductor of this symphony, and he's got a vision that's as clear as it is ambitious. He's like that teacher who sees potential in every student, no matter how unlikely. He pushes his team, but he does it with a kindness that's infectious. You can see it in the way they respond to him, with respect and admiration.

He's also got a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. A simple rehearsal becomes a dress rehearsal, a dance move becomes a signature move, and a song becomes a masterpiece. It's like watching a magician at work, and you can't help but be captivated.

This Is It: The Magic Behind the Curtain

So, what does it all add up to? It's like watching a dream team come together to create something truly special. It's like watching a puzzle come together, piece by piece, until you see the bigger picture. It's like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes, ready to take flight.
