When Is The New Season Of Outlander Coming To Netflix

You know that feeling when you're sitting on your couch with a cup of tea, scrolling through Netflix, desperately hoping to see Outlander pop up with a shiny new season? Yeah, I've been there more times than I care to admit. It's like waiting for your favorite food delivery — you check the app every five minutes, convinced it's late, and then it's just... still late.

If you're an Outlander fanatic, then you already know the struggle. Life moves on, people get married, babies get born, and somehow — nothing new hits your screen. Talk about rude.

So, When Is the New Season Actually Dropping?

First things first, let's clear up a little confusion, because this topic is basically the Three Stooges of streaming right now. Outlander made its home on Starz for its original run, and while Netflix has carried some seasons for international viewers, the newest season doesn't premiere on Netflix the day it drops on Starz.

Season 7, which began airing on Starz in June 2023, is the most recent installment to hit our screens. But if you're anxiously refreshing Netflix hoping to see Jamie and Claire walk through a time portal and your living room — sorry, friend, you'll need to wait a bit longer.

Netflix's Slow-Drip Strategy

Here's how it typically works: Netflix usually picks up Outlander seasons after they've completed their run on Starz. Think of it like leftovers from Thanksgiving — they're still delicious, but you're getting them a day or two later than everyone else.

Seasons 1 through 6 have already made their way onto Netflix in various countries, so binge-watchers are well-fed. But Season 7 is still hanging out over on Starz, eating all the good cookies before Netflix gets its turn.

Based on past patterns, you can expect Season 7 to land on Netflix somewhere around mid-to-late 2024 or possibly early 2025 — depending on your region. Of course, this is educated guessing, which is basically the national sport of anyone who streams TV shows.

The Countdown That Feels Like a Papal Election

Finding out exactly when and where a new season will appear on streaming has become a full-time hobby for fans worldwide. You've got forums, Reddit threads, and Twitter accounts dedicated solely to "Netflix Outlander release date" — as if that's the only thing happening in global politics right now.

It's like waiting for your package from Amazon that said "arriving Tuesday" on Monday, and then changed to Friday, and then to "we'll let you know." Except instead of shampoo, you're waiting for two centuries of romance and kilts.

Why Not Just Watch It on Starz?

Great question, hypothetical reader sitting in your pajamas. Some folks don't have Starz, either because it's not available in their country or because their wallet has already staged a peaceful protest against another subscription.

Release Date Of New Season Of Outlander

That's totally fair. With the rising cost of streaming, adding yet another app feels like trying to fit one more sock into an already stuffed suitcase. Netflix holds eight seasons worth of content that keeps growing, so people are naturally asking when they can catch up without breaking the bank.

What We Do Know for Certain

Here's what we do know: Season 8 is the final season of Outlander, and it has been confirmed as coming eventually. So after years of watching Jamie and Claire travel through time, your emotional investment is about to get a proper conclusion.

Netflix is expected to carry that final season too, once it airs on Starz. The franchise isn't going anywhere, and neither is your irresistible urge to rewatch everything from scratch every holiday season.

How to Pass the Time Until It Arrives

In the meantime, you could rewatch the first six seasons — or pretend it's healthy to try a different show for once. I hear good things about putting your phone down for five minutes, but I haven't personally tested that theory.

You could also read the books. Diana Gabaldon has written a massive eight-book series that fills in every detail the show only glances at. It's like getting the extended director's cut of your favorite movie, except it weighs more than a small child.

Or you could just sit there refreshing Netflix every night like you're waiting for a text back from someone you accidentally liked on Instagram. We've all been in worse situations, and somehow we survive them.

The Bottom Line

To sum it up: the newest season of Outlander will eventually find its way to Netflix, following the same timeline as previous seasons have. Season 7 should arrive sometime in late 2024 or early 2025 for most regions, while Season 8 — the grand finale — will follow after it wraps on Starz.

Until then, you'll just have to stay patient, stock up on Scottish snacks, and keep that couch cushion permanently indented. Because when it finally drops, you won't want to waste a single second of it.
